
Mema Beye - Mining/Oil and Gas Extraction - Rio Tinto Mining and Exploration
Born in Mali, raised in Ivory Coast of Wolof and Mandigue parents, fluent in French, English, Portuguese and Bambara, Mema represents a new generation of young Africans whose primary identity is to be African. His love and passion for the continent goes beyond national, tribal or religious lines. Educated in the French high schools and American universities, Mema is building a global experience with some of the most revered Western professional institutions, which are allowing him to discover the World and engage with professionals from Asia, the Americas, Europe and Africa.
As a member of the International Finance Corporation (World Bank Group), Mema promoted the improvement of the business environment through targeted and action oriented policy reform analysis via the Doing Business project. He supported greater access of SMEs to equipment financing throughout the Leasing Finance reform program, from South Korea to Yemen to Rwanda and many other countries.
Today as the Business Development Manager of Rio Tinto Exploration Africa, Mema seeks to sustainably and transparently develop new mineral wealth throughout Africa, in partnership with Africans.
Mema is driven by the belief that Africa’s time has come, that actions speak louder than words and that an Afri-can-do attitude will see our continent overcome its ills and defects to claim a strategic and leading role in tomorrow’s World.
Rio Tinto comprises five principal product groups - Aluminium, Copper, Diamonds & Minerals, Energy and Iron Ore - plus two support groups: Technology & Innovation and Exploration.
